Washington truly has it all! These iconic locations aren’t just popular they’re incredibly diverse, photogenic, and uniquely suited for every kind of adventure. As a local Washington Elopement Photographer, I’ve photographed elopements here in every season, from golden-hour summer hikes to foggy coastal mornings and snow covered winter trails, so no matter the time of year, you’ll have a backdrop that feels cinematic and true to you.

1. Garrapata State Park

Garrapata offers dramatic coastal bluffs that meet the Santa Lucia Mountains, wildflower meadows, and sweeping ocean views-all within one park. It’s ideal for couples who want a mix of mountain + ocean vibes without going super remote.

Permit & logistics: A Special Use Permit is required for ceremonies. For example: around $400 for gatherings up to ~25 people and you should apply well ahead of time (60+ days) to avoid extra fees.

2. Pfeiffer Beach

You get to skip the rules, timelines, and family drama. Eloping doesn’t make your day smaller – it just makes it yours!

Some of the best Big Sur elopement locations require permitting, so be sure to check ahead with the appropriate agency, as rules vary by spot and can change seasonally. And always remember to follow Leave No Trace principles to protect these fragile coastal and forest ecosystems. Always make sure to Leave No Trace.
